Students may need to request registration overrides from professors during registration. No paper form is needed for the override process. Registration overrides PERMIT registration but do not register a student. Once the override is recorded, the student must access Banner Self-Service and register for the course before the registration period has closed for the semester.

You can enter an override by logging into Banner Self-Service, selecting Student Menu, and then Registration Overrides.

Please review the types of overrides below to ensure that you are requesting the correct one from your professor:

  1. Override Pre-/Co-Requisites allows students to register for a course even though they lack the stated prerequisite.
  2. Override Course Restrictions allows students to register for a course who do not meet the class level or program of study specified for the course. For more information about the criteria for these restrictions, see Registration.
  3. Override Time Conflicts allows students to register for more than one course that meets at the same time.
  4. Consent to Attempt Late Registration allows students to register for a course after the first week of the semester but before the Last Day to Add deadline.
